03 When the copy’s ready for review
If you’ve been following this checklist, your SME shouldn’t be surprised when you send them the copy your writer has produced. In fact, they should be excited to see the wonders your writer has spun from the raw insight they provided.
When you share the copy:
Quickly remind the SME what the content piece is and what it’s trying to achieve
Include any relevant notes from the writer
Draw their attention to any requests for additional input
Always encourage your SMEs to leave feedback in comments on the text, rather than spending time editing the copy themselves. This empowers the writer to use their own expertise, and address the issue in the best possible way. (It also saves your SMEs the hassle of learning your house style!)
